Looking fabulous is important. It is equally important to know how to do this without spending a fortune,
especially in this economy. Paying full price for fashion is just plain silly.
Dolce & Gabbana DG 535: A Fashionable Accessory that Really Does Something
When you hear the name Dolce & Gabbana, you probably think of high fashion. You
may picture tall, thin, impossibly beautiful fashion models catwalking down runways in chic dresses or designer
suits that many of us will never be able to afford. And that’s the sad part: Most of Dolce & Gabbana’s stuff is
nice, in my opinion, but sadly unattainable. It’s made for celebrities and millionaires—basically, people who shop
on Madison Avenue, where the Manhattan Dolce & Gabbana store is. They live in Upper West Side penthouses, fly
in private jets, and roll up their limousine windows when passing through the neighborhoods where we common people
live. I’ll never get to be as glamorous as them.
Or so I thought—that is, until I went to my recent appointment for an eye check-up
and some new glasses. After my eye exam, I was browsing through the selection of frames when I noticed that the
store had a slightly glitzier section over in the corner, which turned out to be where they kept the designer
frames. Out of curiosity, I went to take a closer look, and I noticed a special display case with the Dolce &
Gabbana logo written across the bottom. For a second, I thought that the lingering effects of my exam must be
playing tricks with my vision. But no, I blinked a few times and confirmed that it was true: Dolce & Gabbana
makes eyewear.
The best part was, when I started comparing prices on different types of brand-name,
designer frames, I found out that the Dolce & Gabbana frames were a bit cheaper than designer brands like
Prada, Gucci, and Donna Karan. Okay, sure, some of the Dolce & Gabbana frames were upwards of $150—and I think
some were even more expensive, but I averted my eyes from those particular price tags—but there were some
great-looking and affordable ones for under $100. In other words, they weren’t the most expensive frames in the
store. Not even close.
To make a long story short, I settled upon the Dolce & Gabbana DG 535
frames, which have a sort of rounded, artistic flair. I feel they make me look European, but it’s hard to be sure
with these things. It could just be the knowledge that they’re made in Italy, which may influence how I see myself
in them. They come in blue, brown, black and yellow, and teal—difficult choice, but I went with conservative,
tasteful brown. The color is perfect for fall, but I’m sure they’ll be fine in any season.
So, while I may never be a world-famous, hyper-glamorous, Dolce & Gabbana-donning
millionaire celebrity fashion model, at least I have this little bit of glamour. And, lest we forget, these Dolce
& Gabbana frames are not just nice looking; they’re also making it possible for me to see these words I’m
typing right now. How about that? A fashionable accessory that also serves a practical, everyday purpose. Maybe it
will start a trend.
